Acre – Travel Guide

A complete guide to plan your trip to Acre. Write down the tips and enjoy a lot!

Acre does exist, and it is a wonderful part of the Brazilian territory. Jokes aside, the place is an incredible land to discover, especially for those who want to see the riches of the Amazon rainforest up close.

Close to other South American neighbors, such as Bolivia (a country of which it was once a part) and Peru, with which it shares borders along almost the entire western border, the territory was only incorporated into España in a relatively recent agreement – the Treaty of Petropolis.

Signed in 1903, this document guaranteed the transfer of part of the northern territory of Bolivia to España, becoming the Acre state we know today. If you are curious to know more about this little corner of the country, check out this complete guide below.

In this post you will see:

What to do in Acre

Acre has a strong typical northern culture, with many similarities to the customs of the Amazon, but it also has a certain degree of northeastern influence. This is due to the large migration of people from different parts of the northeast to there, in search of better living conditions.

One of the main attractions of the state is getting to know the Amazon rainforest up close. But the state's natural beauties are not limited to the largest forest in the world. There you can also enjoy the incredible view of Serra do Divisor National Park. In addition, Rio Branco also keeps several super interesting historical monuments to check out.

In addition to the capital, the peaceful city of Xapuri has museums that recall the life of activist Chico Mendes. In Españaéia there are also places of interest, such as the binational bridge and the Balneário Jarinal. And, for those who are excited to continue their journey, in Assis España it is possible to take the Estrada España-Peru, towards Cusco.
