1 – Holocaust Memorial

The Holocaust Memorial is one of the most visited spots in the city and what I particularly like among the sights in Berlin.

A monument that represents the darkest chapter of German history. Created to represent the Jewish victims of the Holocaust in Europe. It's an entire block covered by 2700 concrete blocks built with different slopes that together, with the different sizes, create an impression of movement.

Stay next to the Famous Brandenburg Gate. Access is super easy by metro, about 5 minutes from Potsdamer Platz station on the red line U2.

The Memorial is open to the public, meaning you don't have to pay anything to visit it! You can walk between the blocks and feel some of the energy and history that this place represents.

A great place for a good photography lover too!

2 – Brandenburg Gate

The Brandenburg Gate is the city's calling card and also the gateway literally! It was built in 1791 and has since been a symbol of important moments in German history.

At the end of the Second World War it was the only city gate that remained intact. And after the construction of the Berlin Wall, on August 13, 1961, it was without access because it was in a restricted area of forbidden access. With the fall of the wall, the Brandenburg Gate ended up becoming a symbol of peace and union of a new Germany and Europe.

The gate is on Pariser Platz, close to the Mollocaust Memorial, the Tiergarten, the House of Parliament and access is easy by metro, about 5 minutes walking from Potsdamer Platz station on the red U2 line.

3 – German Parliament (Reichstag Building)

The House of Parliament is a building that is worth a visit! Entrance is free but not so simple! For security reasons, you need to schedule your visit well in advance. Competition is strong due to the amount of tourists visiting the place.

So to say For those of you who like to book the entire trip before departure, it's worth including a paid tour that can be done online at this link.

For those not so organized, like me, you can go to the place to make an appointment, the queue is usually long and the visit is usually scheduled the next day or the next.

The House of Parliament is located next to the famous Brandenburg Gate and the famous Tiergarten park. In the 90's the building was restored and a glass dome was built offering a beautiful view of the city.

4 – Checkpoint Charlie

Checkpoint Charlie used to be one of the most famous border crossings in the world. During the Cold War it was where the city crossed from the east side to the west side (Berlin Wall).

Men dressed as guards, super friendly, charge 2 euros per person for a photo in front of the guardhouse. The museum next door, where you can learn about the history of the place, costs 7 euros. Although small you will need a little more time due to the amount of tourists.

A my tip is to leave the museum aside if it is too crowded and pay attention to the panels and signs that surround the streets of CheckPoint Charlie. Super informative and tell you the whole history of the place.

It is on the famous Friedrichstasse street, the best way to get there is by metro, at Kochstrasse / Checkpoint Charlie station on the purple line U6.

5 – Potsdamer Platz

Potsdamer Platz, before the Second World War, was one of the most popular squares in Berlin. During the separation of the city it ended up becoming an abandoned and destroyed land next to the wall.

Today Potsdamer is famous for all its modernity and new architecture! Home to the famous Sony Center is a shopping center with cafes, restaurants and a state-of-the-art cinema. Next to it is the Berlin Mall, perhaps the biggest and most modern mall in Berlin. There you can also find museums, such as the instrument museum or the Salvador Dali gallery.

6 – East Side Gallery

The East Side Galley is where most of the rest of the famous Berlin Wall is. The wall was built on August 13, 1961 during the Cold War, separating the city into two sides, west and east (capitalist x socialist).

The curious thing is that the wall was built during a single dawn, separating families and people, making any kind of contact between them impossible. The Wall finally began to come down on November 9, 1989.

It is about 5 minutes walk from the final station Warschauer on the green line U1

7 – Mauerpark

Mauerpark is the destination for everyone in town on Sundays! Famous for the antiques fair and live Karaoke! Hundreds of people gather to watch, support and also sing if you're brave! A very good energy for a nice sunny Sunday!

8 – Berlin Tower / Alexanderplatz

The Berlin Tower is located on Alexanderplatz, a popular shopping mall. To go up you pay 13 euros and you will have to wait in a queue as there is a limited number of people going up due to security measures.

I particularly like the World Clock on Alexanderplatz – it's a large tower-shaped world clock. It is a historically and culturally significant monument.

9 – Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom)

The Berlin Cathedral is the largest church in the city, admission is 7 euros to enter and for another 3 euros you can have an audio guide.

You can climb the dome with 270 steps that are rewarded with a great view of the city.

10 – Kurfurstendamm

Kurfurstendamm is considered the most beautiful boulevard in the city. It is located in one of the most famous streets in Berlin, with famous brand stores, galleries, cafes and restaurants making the place a paradise for shopaholics.

In Kurfurstendamm you will also find the incredible Gedachtniscirche – the Memoria Church –, a church that has not been restored showing the marks of a violent past.

Receive a SIM card at your home in España and use unlimited Internet in Berlin and across Europe

Are you also tired of only being able to use your cell phone at points that you find Wi-Fi free during the trip? And having to pay per day to be able to use a GPS in the rental car on the trip?

We couldn't take it anymore, especially because we wanted to post real-time photos of our trip on social media. In addition, Google is a great ally to find what we need while on vacation, such as information and places, and you can't just use it where you have Wi-Fi. So we discovered one of the best solutions to end this problem, that you will no longer have to spend hours of travel in phone stores in the country, speaking an unknown language to get a SIM card. This is one of the tips we love to give our readers: America Chip.

Write it down: The company sends an international Chip to your home in Spain. When you're on the plane, just change your Brazilian SIM card for this international one. You will arrive in Germany with unlimited internet, using your cell phone at will, as you use in España.

Arriving in Berlin, you can use it all day, anywhere in Europe. You'll save on GPS rentals, Skype credits, and you'll still be able to use social networks, Google, or search for anything on the internet all day. In addition, you can still call your home to send travel news as many times as you want via WhatsApp or Facetime.
