Cinderella's Castle

Cinderella's Castle at Magic Kingdom was completed in July 1971, after 18 months of construction. The park was inaugurated soon after, on October 01, 1971.

For many years it was the largest castle in Disney Parks, until the construction of the Enchanted Storybook Castle at Disneyland Shanghai in 2016.

The 57,6 meters high Cinderella Castle was inspired by several European castles from the period between the 14th and 19th century, which Walt toured to see one by one. The biggest inspiration was from Neuschwanstein Castle, in Bavaria, Germany, belonging to King Ludwig.

Walt wanted it to be a gateway from medieval times to the world of dreams, so the Castle is actually a gateway to Fantasyland, the fairytale area of the Magic Kingdom.

What's inside Disney's castle?

In addition to being a passage made with stained glass windows that tell the story of Cinderella, inside the castle we have a restaurant, Cinderella's Royal Table, a place of transformation for girls and boys, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and an incredible Cinderella suite, where only guests and people who purchase the World of Dreams package can stay.

Cinderella's Royal Table

Cinderella's Royal Table is one of the busiest in the entire complex. Who wouldn't want to have a meal with the princesses inside Cinderella's Castle, right?

All three meals are served (lunch, breakfast and dinner) and we recommend making reservations as soon as availability opens (180 days in advance) through the My Disney Experience app or the Disney website. At the time of booking, you pay the fixed price of the meal chosen by credit card and you can cancel at least 48 hours in advance to get your money back. Otherwise, you will pay the full amount if you don't show up.

At meals, Cinderella is the hostess and the other princesses take turns passing by the tables for photos and autographs. The princesses who can be on the day are: Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Belle, Rapunzel, Ariel, Snow White and Jasmine.

Prices vary by meal, but costs between $60 to $80 per adult and $40 to $65 per child. This price includes the starter, main course, dessert and non-alcoholic drinks.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

One of Cinderella's Fairy Godmother Transformation Boutique units is located inside Disney's Castle at Magic Kingdom. The other two units are located at Disney Springs and at the Grand Floridian hotel at the Walt Disney World complex in Orlando.

The most popular and crowded is the Castle. Reservations open 180 days in advance and due to the popularity we suggest you book as soon as possible. You can book through the Disney website.

Girls and boys between 3 and 12 years old can participate with an adult accompanying them. The experience takes between 30 minutes to 1 hour, so plan ahead if you want to do it on a park day.

Girls' packages range from $99,95 plus tax to $450 plus tax, depending on which services you want to purchase and which accessories (larger packages include high quality deluxe hair, makeup, manicure, dress and crown).

There are also two special Frozen Princess Packages, The Disney Frozen Crown Package for $119,95 plus tax (without Anna or Elsa's dress) and The Disney Frozen Package for $179,95 plus tax which includes the dress. of Princess Anna or Queen Elsa.

If you want to take a dress bought elsewhere, it is allowed, so hire the cheapest packages that do not include a dress, as it is more expensive inside the park.

For boys there are two types of packages, The Knight Package for $19,95 plus tax and The Knight Package Deluxe for $79,95 plus tax. At last the prince costume is included.

For children it is an amazing experience! The employees are true fairy godmothers and even use the magic wand to reveal the transformation.

The exclusive castle suite from disney

In the Cinderella Castle building plans, this suite would be built for Walt and his family to sleep in. With the death of Walt Disney in 1966, these plans were abandoned and an office functioned on the site.

In 2006, the suite was built and until then only guests or people who won some kind of promotion could stay there. Celebrities like Tom Cruise and Kate Perry have slept in Cinderella's luxurious suite.

The decor refers to castles from the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. The elevator that leads to the suite is all gold plated. In the windows there are several stained glass windows that show the history of Cinderella and the suite overlooks the park areas.

The bathroom is beautiful, the bathtub ceiling imitates a starry sky. The 72-inch HD television sits above the fireplace. In addition to the bedroom, there is a small room to rest.

Last year Disney started selling a package that entitles you to many benefits, including knowing the Cinderella suite.

This package is called World of Dreams and it costs as little as… $12.000! In addition to the suite visit, this package includes special skip-the-line admission to attractions, entrance to backstage tours at any of the parks, three meals included, transportation and backstage access, VIP seat at nightly shows, among other benefits.

How to take a good picture of Disney Castle?

Cinderella's Castle is among the most photographed monuments in the world.

The tip for taking a picture with the castle more empty is to get to the park very early, Main Street opens an hour before the official opening time and few people know that. Reserving some breakfast at a park restaurant before opening hours is a good strategy to get into the park early and get that amazing photo at the castle.

Another tip is to wait after closing time for a photo at night, people usually leave after the closing show. If you can stand it, stay there for a while longer, it will be worth it!

Castle tips and trivia from disney

  • To make the castle look bigger and wider, they used “forced perspective” in the construction, a technique used in movies. The structures at the top are made on a smaller scale to give this perception.
  • Disney's Castle, in this case Cinderella's, is surrounded by a moat formed by about 3.37 million gallons of water.
  • In the original project, 29 towers would be built, but two were removed because they could not be seen from any area of the park. The towers are numbered, the tallest is number 20 and the one with the clock seen from the front is number 10. The one with the golden roof is number 23.
  • The Castle was designed to be seen from Seven Seas Lagoon. The idea was that guests who were going by ferry to the park could already see the castle.
  • Millions of Italian glass fragments and 14-karat silver and gold mosaics were used to build the mosaics that stand across the castle.
