Hotel D’europe em Avignon

One of the oldest hotels in France with an exuberant reputation that oozes comfort and quality in the heart of Avignon.

The house was built in the year 1580, was the residence of the Marquess of Graveson and has a fascinating history. Located in the center of Avignon, right next to the River Rhone and surrounded by the main sights of the city like the Palace of the Popes and the famous bridge of Saint-Benezet (Bridge of Avignon), it started to build its famous reputation in the beginning of the 19th century, when the most comfortable to travel was by the river, away from the discomfort of the dusty roads of the time.

Since its creation, the house has belonged to different families before becoming a hotel by Madame Pierron in the year 1799, who, with the insistence of none other than General Napoleon Bonaparte himself, gave the name Hotel d'Europe.
In the 20th century, the hotel continued to build its reputation with the frequent presence of great names of the time such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, two among many other names.
In 1900 the hotel was first mentioned in the Michelin guide and has since appeared in every other issue, showing that this hotel needs no further introduction, its reputation speaks for itself.

BEDROOMS

There are 39 rooms and 5 suites in total, all beautifully decorated, combining a natural French touch with the most exclusive luxury. If that's your taste, this is definitely the recommendation for those who don't know where to stay in Avignon.
I was impressed and I confess that the Hotel d'Europe was the most luxurious and comfortable hotel I have ever visited.
I had the pleasure of staying in one of the suites, perhaps the most special in the hotel and I must confess that I felt very pampered and special during my stay.
A suite measuring 60 meters, that is, a lot of space and privacy, a wonderful heated bathroom, a huge living room with a sofa and table for work and also a very spacious balcony for breakfast or meals in general, if the guest wishes. .

All rooms and suites also offer fast internet, air conditioning, mini bar, LCD TV with international channels, DVD player, telephone, safe, coffee machine, teas and others. The bathroom also offers all the basic utensils such as products, as well as a bathrobe and slippers and a hairdryer.

RESTAURANT

The hotel also offers a well-known restaurant in the region, La Vieille Fontaine, considered one of the best in Avignon.
I unfortunately ended up not trying it, my stay in Avignon was short and I had dinners scheduled at other restaurants, but it follows the same luxurious line as the hotel, its Chef Mathieu Desmarest has won culinary awards in France since he began his career at La Vieille Fontaine.

If you were thinking about traveling to Europe without travel insurance, be aware that this can become a problem at the time of immigration. So it is good to note a very important tip for those who are planning a trip there: Travel Insurance for any destination in Europe is mandatory.

The reason? It is the Schengen Treaty, which establishes free movement and mandatory travel insurance in 26 European countries. Since we plan so much for the holidays, we create expectations, we invest money, it's not worth risking any setback that could ruin it all.
