What is it like to fly on Air Canada

I've been to the Canada in 2015. In both cases, the Air Canada was responsible for taking me to the final destination – the first trip was to the region of British Columbia and the second for Toronto e Niagara Falls.

Toronto Airport – Canada

Move-in

The check-in process of Air Canada It's quite fast and organized. In São Paulo, everything is done directly at the window, in the now organized Guarulhos' airport.

At Vancouver and Toronto airports, check-in can be carried out at the totems, printing tickets and even luggage tags in the self-service system. With printed tickets, all that remains is to weigh the bags – without queues – before departing for boarding.

Another facility offered by the company is the check-in through the Air Canada.

  • From Toronto to Sao Paulo:

  • From Rio de Janeiro to Toronto:

entertainment on board

The program Air Canada entertainment is enRoute and you can check the entire schedule in advance on the website. Overall, I liked the options for movies (150 titles) and series, which even includes chapters from Netflix's House Of Cards - what contributed to a happier trip?

in addition to all Entertainment visual, 100 music albums of different genres are still available for you to be distracted and still listen to good music!

The system also displays information about the flight on a map, where information about altitude, outside temperature, speed, distance traveled, etc. is available.

The screens are individual and with touch system – a little slow. The seats have a USB charger and electrical outlet. On international flights, headphones were provided free of charge. In the section between Toronto e Vancouver, the headphones were sold for $3,50 Canadian dollars.

A tip: for greater comfort, don't forget to bring your own phone. Apple headphones do not work properly on the plane's audio input.

Connection

Upon arrival in Toronto, if any connection to Vancouver, it is necessary to remove the suitcase from the conveyor belt immediately after immigration. The procedure, however, is not necessary on the return flight – after checking your bags in Vancouver, I removed them only in Guarulhos. Anyway, the process was very smooth, easy and well signposted.

The airplanes

On the stretch between São Paulo and Toronto, I traveled aboard a Boeing 767-300. On the way to Toronto and Vancouver, the plane was a Boeing 777-300 and from Vancouver to Penticton, a Bombardier Dash 8-300 (Air Canada Express / Jazz).

Flights operated by Air Canada Express require even carry-on bags to be checked in due to the size of the aircraft's luggage compartment. Computers and other electronics are removed and must go with the passenger. Only bags and small backpacks are allowed, the rest will continue with checked bags.

Miles

For those who use the Smiles program, it is now possible to accumulate and redeem miles on Air Canada flights.

Immigration

On both occasions, the interview with Canadian immigration was very smooth, with usual questions about the duration of the trip, the purpose of the visit and what I do to support myself in España. The entire process was fast and virtually no queues.

Conclusion

Air Canada offers a good quality of service, meals, entertainment and services. It doesn't have the quality differential of Asian airlines, but it serves its purpose well. Flying nonstop to Canada makes all the difference. In my evaluation, note 8.

Why is it worth taking out travel insurance for Canada?

You don't want to risk any mishap that could spoil your entire trip planning! You can check out the stories of our columnists who tell why it is worth taking out travel insurance. In any case, the ideal in a Travel Insurance is REDUCING RISKS that can happen on a trip.

The “extras” you can choose according to the insurance company's offer: which can cover even lost luggage, theft and theft and even the trip of a family in case of an emergency.

To find good travel insurance deals, we recommend the website Promo insurance. It compares the prices and coverage of the main insurance companies in the world, such as SulAmerica, Assist Card, GTA, Affinity, among others. There, you can check the policies that most have to do with your trip and hire the one you think is best.

Receive a SIM card at your home in España and use unlimited Internet in Canada

Are you also tired of only being able to use your cell phone at points that you find Wi-Fi free during the trip? And having to pay per day to be able to use a GPS in the rental car on the trip?

We couldn't take it anymore, especially because we wanted to post real-time photos of our trip on social media. In addition, Google is a great ally to find what we need while on vacation, such as information and places, and you can't just use it where you have Wi-Fi.

So we discovered one of the best solutions to end this problem, that you will no longer have to spend hours of travel in phone stores in the country, speaking an unknown language to get a SIM card. This is one of the tips we love to give our readers: a America Chip.

Write it down: The company sends an international Chip to your home in Spain. When you're on the plane, just change your Brazilian SIM card for this international one. You will arrive in Canada with unlimited internet, using your cell phone at will, as you use in España.

Arriving in Canada, you can use it all day, anywhere. You'll save on GPS rentals, Skype credits, and you'll still be able to use social networks, Google, or search for anything on the internet all day. In addition, you can still call your home to send travel news as many times as you want via WhatsApp or Facetime.
