Where to Eat in San Francisco at Union Square

AsiaSF

O AsiaSF It's a must go restaurant in San Francisco, it's really worth it. As the website says “it's the most iconic restaurant in town” – it was a dinner show that I had a LOT of fun. You need to go with an open mind and without prejudice.

The restaurant / bar / show / disco is on a corner in an old but well maintained building. The environment has a sexy 'Q' and is ideal for groups of friends, special celebrations (graduation, bachelor parties, birthdays) and also for couples.

The menu has an Asian touch with fixed prices ranging from US$44 to US$69 per person (depending on the day of the week and time of day). During weekends, the price includes admission to the disco, which is located in the basement of the restaurant. The drinks are also another hit of the house. Besides, of course, the entertainment.

The highlight of the restaurant is the dancing show with the “ladies”– it's guaranteed fun for sure! In the video below you can understand the atmosphere of the restaurant. It's the right choice to put on the list of where to eat in San Francisco.

The Cheese Cake Factory

If you want something very typical American, your choice is the hammock The Cheese Cake Factory.

In the city, the restaurant is on the rooftop of the Macy's building and is very popular. Have patience to wait and don't go too hungry. But while the line doesn't move, you can enjoy the beautiful panoramic view of Union Square.

The menu is quite varied – pizza, a good variety of salads, options for vegans, sandwiches, individual dishes, meat, fish and kids dishes. And of course the famous pies – there are more than 30 types :P. Be sure to try Very Cherry Ghirardelli®.

The Colonial

Le Colonial is a 7-minute walk from Union Square. The menu is Vietnamese with lots of vegetables (great option for vegetarians), spices, meats, fish and herbs. All this with touches of French cuisine.

The service was excellent, the dishes very well served and attentive waiters. The maitre d' served us and we followed his suggestion. For input: pork ribs with vegetables, pot stickers stuffed with scallops and shrimp. The main course was the house specialties – Bo Luc Lac – filet mignon cubes cooked in the traditional Vietnamese way with soy sauce and red onion. Ca Hap La Chuoi – sea bass wrapped in banana leaf with sweet potato and ginger noodles. All accompanied by a salad of Brussels sprouts (DELICIOUS!) and jasmine rice. With so much food, there was even a lunch box to take to the hotel!

And also, because there is always a little space, an ice cream and the Bananamissu. A banana-flavored tiramisu – another delight.

The restaurant has a pretty cool schedule of events – DJ, live music – jazz, piano – check the website to see what's going on when you're in San Francisco.

Where to eat in San Francisco in SOMA

Alexander’s Stakehouse

Just remembering this restaurant makes me want to go back to San Francisco (I miss it!). the menu of Alexander’s Stakehouse it has Japanese influences, in addition to the American steakhouse. All super exquisite. The atmosphere is pleasant and classic, ideal for couples or business dinners.

The waitress, very friendly alias, asked us if we had any dietary restrictions or anything we didn't like – OF COURSE not! Then we followed up with a six-course tasting menu chosen by the chef – who also personally came to our table. It was quite a gastronomic experience, each dish was a surprise!

To start the session the delicious starters, with super varied flavors until finishing with the main course – which is the restaurant’s main dish – the Japanese A5 Wagyu. According to experts, it is the name of the highest quality grade of meat – its absolute best. Wagyu is served with a salt menu (that's right!) there are 12 types of salt in the world – Nepal, Wales, USA, Chipe, Peru, Australia, Bali and India – for you to taste every bit of the meat.

The experience is amazing, I know it's cliché, but the meat really melts in your mouth. And even I who am a layman on the subject, it is possible to differentiate the taste in each type of salt. My favorite was Kala Namak, the black salt from India – which is strangely pink. It has a strong taste and smell, but it's delicious. Amazing experience!

And to finish off this gastronomic orgy, we ended the night with two desserts. The first one they call pre-dessert (I don't know why, but if it's sweet I'm accepting) was the Honey and Elderflower. A frosty beeswax cream with delicate elderflowers. And finally the “main” dessert, my favorite part of all dinners, a strawberry mouse with japanese pepper – the Gaviota Strawberry. Not forgetting that all dishes were paired with wines – a sparkling wine, a rosé and a red along with the meat.

A very different delicacy of the restaurant, in the end you get a bouquet of cotton candy. If I was happy? I think so huh. ? One of the super experiences to put on your list of where to eat in San Francisco.

The restaurant, in addition to the tasting menu (which ranges from U$ 120 to U$ 300 per person), has a la carte options, hamburgers and options for vegetarians (in the last case, right).

So we discovered one of the best solutions to end this problem, that you will no longer have to spend hours of travel in phone stores in the country, speaking an unknown language to get a SIM card. This is one of the tips we love to give our readers: America Chip.

Write it down: The company sends an international Chip to your home in Spain. When you're on the plane, just change your Brazilian SIM card for this international one. You will arrive in the United States with unlimited internet, using your cell phone at will, as you use in España.
