- You'll have to wear a burqa, huh?!
- Me huh, those strange people...

1. Iranians

This item definitely needs to be at the top of the list. the hospitality of Iranian culture is to fall in love! Always attentive, interested, funny and willing to help! Don't be surprised if you meet an Iranian family and are already invited to have lunch/dinner at their house, or even participate in picnics that they love to do.

Walking down the street, you will probably notice some people looking at you, with a frown, but just say “Salaam”, which in Farsi means Hi/Hello, to receive a beautiful smile and welcome!

2. Safety

Exactly! Iran is much safer than España. And it's not me I'm talking about. According to the American NGO Social Progress Imperative, España appears in the ranking as the 11th most insecure country in the world, while Iran appears in the 48th.

Even traveling alone I felt quite safe. Iranians will always try to help you if you get lost or are looking for somewhere.

3. Cuisine

Iranian cuisine is delicious! You will find much more than the famous Kebab, that delicious barbecue on the skewer. It is always served with lots of rice, accompanied by a stick of butter to melt and roasted tomato.

The cuisine is rich in meat, chicken, fish and, of course, lots of rice. All meals always accompany Iranian bread. The variety of herbs and spices give it a special touch, in addition to vegetables, vegetables and lots of fruit. Tea cannot be missed at the end of each meal. Delicious!

The restaurants are good, despite the little variety of dishes, but the best meals I had was at the Iranians' house.

Why travel to Iran

4. History

Iran it's ancient Persia and it was one of the biggest empires in the world, founded by Cyrus the Great in 550 BC With this information you can already have an idea how much history this country carries, right?

Rich in culture and history, there are hundreds of monuments, palaces, gardens, not to mention the most beautiful mosques I've ever seen!

5. Sunday

To experience the local culture, one of the best options is to get lost inside the Iranian bazaars. I say get lost, in the literal sense of the word, because it's impossible that this doesn't happen with so many paths and little streets inside the bazaar.

The shopping options are endless: clothing, souvenirs, teas, kitchen items, decor, scarves, jewelry, herbs, carpets, etc. Going to the bazaar is to experience Iranian daily life and culture.

Why travel to Iran

6. Money

travel around Iran it's pretty cheap! The average/day of my trip was U$ 35. Accommodation, local transport and food are very affordable. It is possible to find hostel options and cheaper hotels up to 5 stars, but know that the hotel chain in Iran is still developing so don't expect much, especially in smaller cities.

It is also possible to travel between cities using only buses, a great cost benefit, as they are VIP buses. Taxi no Iran It's also very cheap!

Why travel to Iran

7. Mosques

Simply the most beautiful mosques I have ever seen! There's no way not to fall in love with so much beauty in one place.

8 Culture

Experiencing Iranian culture is very interesting! It goes beyond knowing the historical sites. Taroof for example is part of Iranian education, way in which they offer things for free, but obviously you have to pay. It can happen in the taxi, hotel or even in the restaurant when you ask for the bill. A simple rule is to insist 3 times to see if it's Taroof or an invitation.

9. HEJAB

Iran's Islamic revolution took place in 1979 and was a popular movement to overthrow the rei Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, this being then the last Shah (title assigned to the kings of Persia). Since then, various laws and religious rules are part of Iranian culture, such as the Hejab.

All women, including tourists, are required to dress appropriately to Iranian standards. Remember the negative comments above about Iran and the burqa? One more mistake there. The burqa is mostly used in Afghanistan, which is nothing more than a “blanket” that covers the entire body, including the face.

No Iran, the obligation is the scarf to cover the head, hair and neck. Many women use other models, such as the Chador, which is more conservative, covering the whole body and head, but the face is exposed. The variation depends on the woman's conservatism. Another important point is to always wear loose clothes that do not mark the curves of the body.

But why is this item in the 10 reasons why travel to Iran?

Going through this experience is amazing! I confess that in the first few days it was difficult to get used to it, the handkerchief would fall off all the time and I was desperate. But believe me, the adaptability of the human being is unbelievable! In the end, I already felt like an Iranian and going out without my dear scarf didn't make sense anymore.
