Hollywood Studios – Travel Guide

Disney's Hollywood Studios was the third park in the Walt Disney World complex to be opened in Orlando in 1989. The park's focus is on Disney film productions such as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Toy Story and many others.

The park is undergoing an immense renovation, with no end date, which began in 2015 with the removal of the sorcerer's hat from the park. Mickey right at the entrance.

Due to the renovation, many attractions were closed to make way for new and more modern ones, with the expansion of attractions in Star Wars, becoming Star Wars Land, with two new attractions and from Pixar, the new Toy Story Land, also with two new attractions, in addition to the existing one. Despite this, the park still maintains excellent attractions and the visit is still very worthwhile, with one of the best closing shows, Fantasmic.

Magic Village Resort – the ideal place to stay in Orlando that we recommend

In this post we will list the attractions of the park and give tips for each one to make the most of your day at the park.

Hollywood Studios Roadmap and Guide

It is currently divided into 6 areas:

Hollywood Boulevard, Echo Lake, Muppets Courtyard, Pixar Place, Animation Courtyard e Sunset Boulevard.

It is difficult to suggest a closed itinerary through the park because most of the attractions are shows with different times during the day. So, the first tip is: when you arrive at the park, take the map and the schedule for the week with the schedule of the shows and choose your favorites.

Hollywood Studios Entrance

Let's see the attractions of each area:

1 – Hollywood Boulevard

The area is inspired by the most famous street in Los Angeles and works like Main Street of Magic Kingdom, with guest service, a restaurant and stores selling Disney products. At the end of the street, the view of the Chinese theater, where the park's first attraction, The Great Movie Ride, is located.

The Great Movie Ride

It's a journey through the most famous films in Hollywood. It lasts 22 minutes and has a guide explaining everything in English. For those who don't understand the language, it's worth it for the scenes, with lots of visual effects, actors recreating classic scenes, and also for the air conditioning, in case it's too hot outside, and a few good minutes of sitting relaxed. If you don't have that much time, it's pretty expendable.

Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular

On some nights, this closing show takes place in front of the Chinese theater, with a show of music, projections and fireworks with characters from Star Wars. It is possible that on the same night there will be this presentation and the Fantasmic as well.

2 – Echo Lake

Moving to the left, Echo Lake is the area inspired by the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!

A live show, reenacting classic scenes from Raiders of the Lost Ark. The show lasts 30 minutes and has a lot of action and entertainment, guaranteed fun with a good dose of nostalgia.

Indiana Jones

Rumor has it that the attraction will close soon, to be renewed, keeping the Indiana Jones theme, but shown in a different light. Let's wait for the news.

Star Tours – The Adventures Continue

A 3D flight simulator for anyone who wants to feel part of the Rebellion. For fans of the saga Star Wars this is a must visit. The attraction has fastpass+ availability and we recommend booking before the visit.
In the same area is the attraction Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, a show for children who have the opportunity to become Jedi apprentices, receiving lightsaber training from a Jedi master. Recommended for children who understand English, it lasts 20 minutes.

For the First Time in Forever: a Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

For fans of Frozen, there is a 30-minute live musical show retelling the film's story.

3 – Muppets Courtyard

This is one of the areas that was greatly affected by the renovations, some attractions were closed.

Muppet Vision 3D

A 4D movie starring the Muppets, takes about 25 minutes. For those who do not understand English it is totally expendable.

4 – Pixar Place

This is the area dedicated to films and characters from Pixar, is also expanding with renovations.

Toy Story Midway Mania

One of the most popular attractions in the park, we recommend booking the fastpass+ or heading straight to it when you arrive in the morning. Believe me, the lines easily reach 3 or 4 hours of waiting!
Similar to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin ride on Magic Kingdom, e o M.I.B, no Universal Studios, is a target shooting game on a moving cart. It's a lot of fun and well worth it, don't miss it.

Toy Story MidWay

5 – Animation Courtyard

Star Wars Launch Bay

For Star Wars fans in this area it is possible to take pictures with some characters, such as Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Kylo Ren. There's also an exhibit on the latest movie, Rogue One, and a 10-minute behind-the-scenes movie from the saga.

Walt Disney One Man’s Dream

A multimedia exhibition about the creations of Walt Disney and a movie about his life. It lasts 15 minutes, but honestly it's not worth it, it's pretty bland.

Disney Junior Live on Stage

A show for families to sing and dance with Disney Junior's friends. Only go if you have a small child who really likes the characters. It lasts for 15 minutes.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

live presentation of Little Mermaid, lasting 15 minutes. Cool for fans of the cartoon, but if you're short on time, you can skip this attraction without any weight on your conscience.

6 – Sunset Boulevard

Region also inspired by the famous street of Los Angeles.

Rock'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

It's a closed roller coaster, simulating a ride through the streets of Los Angeles to an Aerosmith song of your choice. For fans of extreme toys, be sure to go and guarantee your fastpass+ because the lines are immense! For those who don't mind going alone, it has the shortest queue for single riders.

Rock ‘n’ Roller

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

The famous “Falling Elevator” Disney, is also a popular attraction, inspired by a haunted hotel. It has availability to book fastpass+ (although you have to choose between it, the Aerosmith roller coaster or the Fantasmic! Only one of the three).

Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage

Another musical show retelling the movie Beauty and the Beast, in an exciting show for fans of the cartoon, even if they don't understand any English. It lasts for 30 minutes.

Fantasmic!

The closing show Hollywood studios, considered one of the best of all the parks. It is a musical show, conducted by the Mickey sorcerer, with projections in the water and fireworks. The show doesn't happen every night, check the park's schedule beforehand. It lasts 30 minutes and it is possible to schedule a fastpass+ for better seats in the audience or also having a meal in some of the selected restaurants in the park.

We hope that this Disney Parks Guide – Hollywood Studios can help them when planning their trip and their day at the park, avoiding long lines and making the most of the attractions.
