Hotel San Remo in San Francisco

Are you going to San Francisco and wondering about the numerous hotels in the city? Don't know which region to stay in? Discover the San Remo Hotel in San Francisco, in the Fisherman's Wharf area.

San Francisco is an expensive city, especially when it comes to lodging. Even so, it is still very popular in high season. In addition to being home to some of California's most famous attractions, such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Lombard Street, the city is very eclectic and full of contrasts. You have options of good restaurants, bars, museums, tours with beautiful views, nature and at the same time you find a super urban city.

If you are looking for where to stay in San Francisco, we have a good tip. When we started putting together our travel itinerary, in July of this year, location and value for money were our guidelines for finding accommodation. With these prerequisites in mind, we found the San Remo Hotel. The hotel is located near Fisherman's Wharf. From there, you can do everything on foot and save on car rental. We tell you the details of the accommodation below:

History

The hotel was built in 1906 shortly after the The Great Quake – the earthquake that devastated San Francisco. The property served as housing for workers who rebuilt the city in this period. It also housed penniless sailors, poets, journalists and artists who paid accommodation with their paintings. In 1922 the hotel was renamed San Remo Hotel, in honor of a small Italian town.

The accommodation also has a famous restaurant, Fior d'Italia, founded in 1886. Now, two of the most famous establishments in the city of North Beach share the same building.

Hotel

The San Remo Hotel is all Victorian and steeped in history. The carefully painted and preserved facade takes you back to the past as soon as you arrive. The hotel is all made of maple carpet, with a lot of decoration of plants and paintings with important figures in the history of San Francisco, very interesting! The property has several rooms full of old books, with massage chairs for you to have tea and relax your legs at the end of the day.

Surroundings

The San Remo Hotel is very well located, in the Fisherman's Wharf area. You can do everything on foot. Renting a car in San Francisco is not a good idea, due to the difficulty and high value of parking. The main sights are super close, with a short 10 minute walk you will be at Pier 39. Pier 33, from where tours to Alcatraz Island leave, is 20 minutes away. If you have the breath to climb the slopes, in 20 minutes you'll reach the Lombard Street. Less than a block away you will find the Powell Street cable car – which is the trademark of San Francisco.

Check In

Check-in is not 24 hours, service is from 8:00 am to 22:00 pm from Monday to Thursday. Fridays and Saturdays the service goes until 23:00 hours. If you arrive after this time, you will have to call a telephone number indicated on the main door of the hotel. Be aware of this if you don't have a cell phone chip available.

rooms

The rooms are small, but very cozy and have good lighting. The accommodations also have a ceiling fan and heating (which is great, since San Francisco is cold even in the summer!). All rooms have closets, safe and sink. There is the option of a penthouse suite, a penthouse for couples overlooking San Francisco.

Bathrooms are shared and located in the corridors, but there is always one very close by. Despite being shared, they offer all amenities (clean and large bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, cotton swab, face washcloths, cotton), everything is very clean and without queues. You will hardly have to wait to use the shower. We stayed 3 nights and had no problems at all – zero queues! Always clean and the shower water was super hot. And for hair-conscious girls, the front desk offers a hairdryer.

Breakfast and Restaurant

The San Remo Hotel does not offer breakfast, but there is always a mini chocolate brownie (which is delicious!), tea, coffee, flavored water and hot chocolate all day long in the lobby.

Right next to the hotel's main entrance, in the same building, is one of San Francisco's oldest Italian restaurants, Fior d'Italia. Italian cuisine. It's a good way to get away from hamburgers and fries. On some days of the week it is possible to hear good live jazz. On the website, you can follow the complete schedule.

Receive a SIM card at your home in España and use unlimited Internet in San Francisco and across the USA

Are you also tired of only being able to use your cell phone at points that you find Wi-Fi free during the trip? And having to pay per day to be able to use a GPS in the rental car on the trip?

We couldn't take it anymore, especially because we wanted to post real-time photos of our trip on social media. In addition, Google is a great ally to find what we need while on vacation, such as information and places, and you can't just use it where you have Wi-Fi.

So we discovered one of the best solutions to end this problem, which you will no longer need to spend hours of travel in the country's phone stores, speaking an unknown language to get a SIM card. This is one of the tips we love to give our readers: America Chip.

Write it down: The company sends an international Chip to your home in Spain. When you're on the plane, just change your Brazilian SIM card for this international one. You will arrive in the United States om unlimited internet, using your cell phone at will, as you use in España.

Arriving in the United States, you can use it all day anywhere. You'll save on GPS rentals, Skype credits, and you'll still be able to use social networks, Google, or search for anything on the internet all day. In addition, you can still call your home to send travel news as many times as you want via WhatsApp or Facetime.
